The lush green rolling hills of Sunshine Coast Hinterland provide one of the most spectacular settings along Australia’s east coast. Just 30 minutes’ drive from the beach, the Hinterland is best known for its ‘Three Ms’ – the three villages of Maleny, Montville and Mapleton, full of character, eclectic art and history. Then there’s the food: fresh produce, organic fare and plenty of options to chew with a view. Our first port of call will be the beautifully re-imagined Mary Cairncross Discovery Centre where you will have lunch in the new cafe, followed by a leisurely stroll under the canopy of an unexpected rainforest. You will then capture the region’s most iconic feature – the Glass House Mountains – through your own painting class from the balcony of the Discovery Centre. Don’t worry if you are not quite a Da Vinci at this stage, because we will have a talented local artist to offer guidance.
Maleny is the ‘food capital’ of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and you will experience a diverse taste of the town’s dining and food scene, including a taste sensation at the new star of the craft beer brewery scene, Brouhaha. The next morning you will get your hands dirty with a session at Fried Mudd, where sculptor Cathy Lawley will help you create your own personal clay ‘masterpiece’.
